Howard Travel Journal {train stations & guest bedrooms}

we felt like the tiniest humans
as we wandered around the busy city streets with huge backpacks.
looking up bus schedules, trying to find our next bed.
during our California adventure, the majority of the time we used public transportation & slept in spare bedrooms from airbnb.
it was truly an adventure.
filled with being lost, lots of walking, less sleep.
delays, waiting, inconvenience.
but crossing paths with so many beautiful individuals we wouldn’t normally have met
as we sat next to them on the bus, slept on their air mattress,
or when they helped us find our way.

Howard Travel Journal { the golden gate bridge }

this is our documentation that we trekked across that beautiful red bridge.
nate with a fever of 102. on a freezing day. without warm enough clothes.
empty stomachs. dead cell phones.
but huge smiles on our faces. covered in fog. feeling so small in the midst of so much magnificent beauty.
this is also documentation that we returned across that same bridge.
{ even though we didn’t want to // even though we tried to find a way not to. }

“May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home.”
― Trenton Lee Stewart

Howard Travel Journal {exploring the californian coast}

Song Credit: “The Ghost on the Shore” by Lord Huron

from wandering the streets of San Francisco with strep throat
to getting stranded in Sausalito
acting like cranks with best friends in the foggy Malibu Mountains
& meeting new friends among succulents
watching countless breathtaking sunsets
& stargazing in the desert in the company of cacti & little desert mice

… life is so full with you by my side.
let’s do this forever.
