things i love about living in ca.
things i love about living in ca:
the sunsets.
there is always something in bloom.
salty air.
the sun.
cacti/succulents everywhere.
bike rides to the corner store.
year-round camping.
the mountains.
we never have to close our windows.
the ocean waves.
dreams i dream.
one. || two.
dreams i dream:
snuggling in a camper van, exploring up the coast.
seeing the whole world.
napping in the sun.
babies with curly hair.
living at the beach.
eating chocolate cupcakes.
and/or pepporni + pineapple pizza.
tiny homes in big cities.
polka dot dresses + peter pan collars.
eating clouds.
laughing till my belly hurts.
feeling like a kid again.
baby kitties.
vintage colors.
summer nights.
traditions.
we have been creating new little traditions together, giving our weeks rhythm & structure.
much needed for our lifestyle as freelance photographers, for there is always more work that could be done.
tuesdays, we head to pizza & our little neighborhood $4 theater.
sunday, church & then a day out, usually spent at the beach or somewhere outdoors.
once a week, we ride to the corner store on our rusty bikes for a fresh batch of flowers.
in the mornings before work, we exercise & then read together & journal. the evenings, take a walk with our lil pup.
we are loving this sweet, simple little life we have during our slower months.
our hope is that we form good habits of slowness & cling to these traditions throughout busier times of the year as well.
what are your simple, day-to-day traditions?
stick to love.
“there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”
― martin luther king jr.
“i have decided to stick to love…hate is too great a burden to bear.”
― martin luther king jr.
“so the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. will we be extremists for hate or for love? will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? in that dramatic scene on calvary’s hill three men were crucified. we must never forget that all three were crucified for the same crime—the crime of extremism. two were extremists for immorality, and thus fell below their environment. the other, jesus christ, was an extremist for love, truth and goodness, and thereby rose above his environment. perhaps the south, the nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.”
― martin luther king jr.
