back in august, nate & i both set out on our own hair goals & ventures. (lol).
he, growing out his beard to be giant & burly + a man bun atop his head.
me, growing out my bangs.
this past week, i gave in. i cut some new fringe that is now adorning my forehead.
however, nate is holding strong.
though his curly locks are at the most frustrating length he can imagine,
he has not lost heart, he is pressing on.
“the most wonderful thing is that you and i are always walking together, hand in hand, in a strangely beautiful world, unknown to other people. we both stretch one hand to receive from life – and life is generous indeed.”

we love our new land, our surroundings
calling california home is a dream.
a dream we have been dreaming together for so long.
& the best part of living this dream, this life, is that it’s with you.
it is hand in hand. our own little world, that only we know.
perfectly filled with adventure, love, comfort, risk, play, safety, mystery.
together we go.
to the tops of mountains that overlook the city.
complaining + hot. our muscles so sore. having a banana & chocolate picnic along the way.
laughing quietly together at all of our inside jokes.
moments where all we can hear is each others footsteps & heavy breaths.
reaching the top. together.
together we go.
escaping to the desert. soaking in the sun & her beautiful heat.
the santa ana breeze warm upon our skin.
reading next to you. dipping our toes into the pool.
street tacos & thrifting for a new black top.
quarter machine toys, a bouncy ball & fake panda tattoo.
laying nest to you, gazing up at the stars.
together we go.
for a late night walk in the rain shower.
dashing across the street, through the puddles.
water drops covering my nose, covering your glasses.
to the park, our park.
listening to the waves crash below. holding your hand.
laughing & joking the whole time.
i’m so lucky to be yours. to know you. to be known by you.
i’m so grateful that when i stretch out my hand, you are reaching back.
& there, i find life.
here we find ourselves in the dead of winter.
short days paired with loads of snuggling, tea, good books, & netflix.
this year, the first year we are officially skipping a nasty & cold weather.
our hearts are feeling huge & grateful for this southern californian winter.
no comparison with our previous kansas city ones.
our days are busy updating our website & photography blog,
scheming new business ideas, planning adventures for the coming year,
& dreaming big dreams for our future.
cheers to a cozy hibernation as we watch the days continue to grow longer.
where will this month take you & what will it be filled with?

their day, flooded with intention & bursting with creativity.
dream catchers dancing in the wind. their guestbook waiting to be filled with watercolor paint.
handmade candles, dried eucalyptus wreaths, hand lettered signs + menus all around.
she walked with her father down a pedal lined walkway through the trees.
an intimate ceremony in the woods, surrounded by their loved ones as the sun sparkled through the leaves.
gourmet tacos, giant blooms, & the prettiest cakes + pastries possible.
laughter & joy booming through that giant white tent.
& under the stars, they danced the night away to Beyoncé & Rihanna.

we have been creating new little traditions together, giving our weeks rhythm & structure.
much needed for our lifestyle as freelance photographers, for there is always more work that could be done.
tuesdays, we head to pizza & our little neighborhood $4 theater.
sunday, church & then a day out, usually spent at the beach or somewhere outdoors.
once a week, we ride to the corner store on our rusty bikes for a fresh batch of flowers.
in the mornings before work, we exercise & then read together & journal. the evenings, take a walk with our lil pup.
we are loving this sweet, simple little life we have during our slower months.
our hope is that we form good habits of slowness & cling to these traditions throughout busier times of the year as well.
what are your simple, day-to-day traditions?
